Did this happen with 2.1.x VBox versions?
Could you also clarify does the hang behavior depend on whether some VMs are running?

I have the same issue that Symantec Protection Agent 5.1 crashes.
VirtualBox 3.0.2 Host: Windows XP SP3 Guest: OpenSolaris 2009.06 with add-on installed.

Try to enable VT-x in your BIOS and enable it for the VM to see if that helps.

I'm running on Dell Latitude D630 laptop. Intel VT-x was enabled in BIOS already. There's no issue with when starting other guests (Enterprise Linux 5.3 or Ubuntu 9.04). OpenSolaris 2009.06 is the only one that has the issue.

When connected by cable, xp looses the newtork connection when solaris starts the network. It isn't possible to make a normal shutdown of xp, but I have to use the big button. I have solaris guest additions installed.
