Importing/Commiting into Subversion 1.6 freezes the Ubuntu guest — at Version 7

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Hello,

I am using a guest (ubuntu 8.10),with bridging network mode, that holds Subversion 1.6 repositories, which are being served throught apache and svnserve. I after upgrading to virtualbox 2.2.0 and when i am trying to import to a new repository or commit to an existing one the guest freezes (the whole virtualbox freezes).

The first thought was that there was something wrong with the networking. I tried to overwhelm the guest by copying big files and a lot of small ones over the network. However, this did not cause any freezes.

The behaviour is the same whatever possible change i make in the configuration. I am attaching the log of the virtualbox. I hope it is an error on my side, due wrong configuration or so, but i am unable to find a solution myself.

Thank you very much for your time.

I have the same problem(freezing) when do(under guest os) a simple "wget" of file from external internet server through NAT-gateway of host OS. When I do "wget" to get file directly from host's http-server it works well. Guest OS - Gentoo 2008.0. Host OS - Debian 4.0. Virtualbox is 2.2.0. There is no such problem in Virtualbox 2.1.4.

Issue with subversion seems to have been solved after installing the new release 1.6.1 (I suppose that i reported the problem at the wrong project :P ). However, the wget still an issue.

VBox 2.2.0 has a problem with the pcnet emulation. Switch the network device emulation to E1000 and your freezes should be gone.

I "think" my issue is related to this same deal.

Setup:

Windows Server 2003 Standard Machine Vbox 2.2.0

I have a virtual machine w/ a fixed disk of 50g. I have tried Ubuntu 8.10, Ubuntu 9.04, CentOS 5.3 and currently wget will lock up on all 3 distros.

It does not freeze the entire VirtualBox application, but only the VM. I have end-task the VM to be able to re-start it. Then wget locks it up again. Currently I cannot replicate the error on command. It seems to be working as I type this. But it has happened multiple times, and always w/ wget.

Another odd thing that may be related, when booting up the VM after having to end-task the previous session, it froze once more on initializing eth0 (CentOS). Not sure if it is related, but seems possible.
