The virtual machine hangs right before suspending

Reported by: Pedro Côrte-Real Owned by:

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

The Virtual machine hangs right before finishing the saving to disk process. It seems to be entering an illegal state:

02:06:38.926 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_INVALID_VM_STATE (0x80bb0002)
aIID={e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e} aComponent={Console}
aText={Invalid machine state: 9)} aWarning=false, preserve=false

I'm running the latest version (2.1.4) on a Windows XP SP2 host, running an Ubuntu Linux guest:

$ uname -a
Linux wintermute 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:24:39 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

After killing virtual box in the task manager and restarting it it was able to restore the machine to its previous state. I've had the same thing happening where the restore wasn't possible.

I have the same problem. My host is Microsoft Windows XP, and the guest is Ubuntu. The version of my Virtualbox is v2.1.4. I have installed the guested Ubuntu on FAT32 file system of the host. When I boot the guest Ubuntu with Virtualbox, it restart the host, cannot restart the guest Ubuntu. At the end of the log file, there is the following: 00:01:04.170 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_INVALID_VM_STATE (0x80bb0002) aIID={e3c6d4a1-a935-47ca-b16d-f9e9c496e53e} aComponent={Console} aText={Invalid machine state: 1)} aWarning=false, preserve=false

BTW, the vdi is created with dynamic not fixed, and I have copied some files into the FAT32 file system installed the guested machine.

Please help me out. Thanks.
