When trying to use USB devices from pico " http://www.picotech.com/", the pico application is "hanging" in startup with: enumerating USB devices, and is never finding them. This problem was also occurring in VMWare, and the fault was identified to be in both WMWare and the pico software, and after VMWare + pico corrected it, it's working in VMWare, but not in virtualbox

I have the same problem with a PicoScope with a WinXP - VM on a WinXP - Host. Can I supply any information to help solve this problem?

I would like to help trying to solve this problem. I have a PicoScope 3224 which seems to exhibit the same issue.
I'm using a MacOSX host and a Windows7 VM.
It's a USB2.0 device, so I installed the additional package for EHCI support, in case that was the problem.
The symptoms are that the unit has a light, it shows up, but as soon as the guest OS software tries to use it, the light goes off, the device essentially unplugs. Clearly some sort of handshaking is not working.
At this point, there is no /proc/bus/usb/devices (this is under Linux now), but here is the relevant section from 'lsusb -vvv':
