#2663 closed defect (invalid)

Virtualbox doesn't support Sun Type 7 mouse and keyboard

Description

I installed VirtualBox today on OpenSolaris snv_101a my Sun Ultra 40 M2 box with a Type 7 keyboard and mouse.

This keyboard doesn't have a "right ctrl" key--just a left Control key. So it's difficult to escape the VirtualBox jail--one can reboot the system or power off the Virtual Box host system, but that's about it!

I suggest adding, under File --> Preferences --> Input With the "Host Key" menu having more than once choice for a Host Key. The only choice is "Right Ctrl". How about adding a limited number of others like "Home" or or Alt-SysRq" or "Alt Graph", etc.

Activate the control and press any key you wish. That's clearly described there as well.

Replying to sandervl73:

OK--it's not clearly descibed anywhere I can find and I wish you would have provided a pointer or tell me how to do it. I Googled around and found this note on how to change it (too bad you can't just right click on the "right ctrl" to change it).

For others who have the same problem, here's the solution:

TO CHANGE THE "HOST" KEY FROM RIGHT-CTRL Go to the main VirtualBox GUI, and select:

File -> Preferences -> Input -> host key

Change it from "right-ctrl" by pressing the key you want to use instead (preferably some obscure key you never use).
