Intel Pro/1000 network adapters fail Intel diagnostics

The Intel Pro/1000 MT and T network adapters fail Intel's standalone diagnostic tests which can be found ​here.

The archive is unpacked under Windows and runs from a DOS command line. The program 'diags.exe' reports failures in:

1. Register test
2. Fifo test
3. Internal loopback test

Further problems are demonstrated by Intel's packet driver for this adapter, the app can be found ​here.

The packet driver is unable to send any packets, e.g. using Crynwr's pktsend program which can be found ​here.

Aside - AMD's packet driver for the PC-Net adapter works fine in the same DOS VM.

All this is interesting and should eventually be fixed but actually the priority is not that high.
