Replying to LpSolit:

Same problem with VBox 2.1.2 + Windows 7 as guest on Mandriva Linux 2009 as host. Dual Core 3 GHz, 4Gb RAM (2 Gb RAM for the guest).

After upgrading to VirtualBox 2.1.2 (Windows Xp, host Debian Linux, Lenny) I'm no longer having this problem.

Same goes for me. Host is Windows XP, guest is OpenSolaris 2008.11, sound is DirectSound on host, ich ac97 in guest. Haven't tried any other guests yet.
