Troubles starting an Ubuntu 12 Vm

We're given an instruction at school, get an ubuntu 12 iso and create a new Vm, I'can't understand why when i click on "avvia" it generetas and error adn it says to provide a log file to the community, but I don't know how to post in there, it als oshowed this error afterwards: (It's in italian) L'istruzione a 0x00007FFF3B87D9FF ha fatto riferimento alla memoria a 0x0000000000000248. La memoria non poteva essere read. I hope you can help Thanks

I have installed the latest 7.1 builds, but the problem persists, altough i have been given a new error, i'll attach the image in the ticket, and here's the text:
