#22021 new defect

FreeBSD VM with EFI: "poweroff" fails — at Version 1

Reported by: Thomas Dreibholz Owned by:

Description (last modified by Thomas Dreibholz)

With a FreeBSD VM using EFI, "poweroff" reproducibly fails. That is, the VM reproducibly stops but does not power off as intended.

I noticed that setting sysctl hw.efi.poweroff=0 in the VM lets the machine power down as work-around. It seems to bypass EFI for powering down. But the default of hw.efi.poweroff=1 has the issue.
