Seamless mode: Ubuntu host panels hidden when XP guest windows are maximized

Description (last modified by )
Recently updated to the newest 2.0.0 version. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 as my host OS, and Windows XP as the guest. The guest is an older virtual machine, but I reinstalled guest additions so they are at the latest version.
When I am running in seamless mode, the panels are now displayed correctly - as long as I don't have a window maximized and active in the guest.
The panels are still there, but they are blank. If I click on them, they reappear, but then I can't interact with the guest.
I'm attaching two screenshots, one shows how it looks when I have a maximized window in the guest, and one without. Also see this forum post: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?p=36232 - though this is mostly a repost of that.

The bug is still there. Virtualbox 3.0.2, Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 host, Windows XP SP3 guest.

This also occurs when all guest windows are minimized (in addition to when any window in the guest OS is maximized). My Gnome panel does not reappear until VirtualBox is minimized or the guest has at least one window open and none maximized.
VirtualBox 3.0.6-52128, Ubuntu 9.04 host, Windows XP SP3 guest, Nvidia graphics. Have duplicated this on two separate physical machines with same software configuration. Have also duplicated under VirtualBox 2.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
On second thought, the screenshots were too large, but they are available in the mentioned forum post.
