Further research indicated that the problem was my ZFS installation which [https://github.com/openzfsonosx/openzfs/issues/8 hasn't been made compatible] with Big Sur yet. I [https://openzfsonosx.org/wiki/Uninstall uninstalled that], and then ran `kmutil load -b org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv`, and it prompted for approval etc. I then did the same for the other modules, and rebooted, and it all works now!
