Reported by: Don Hughes Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 6.0.8

Guest type: other Host type: other

Description

SuSE Linux host, Microsoft Windows 10 guest. After update of VB to 6.0.8 I can no longer access my Shared Folder residing on the host. Was working previously. If I try to mount it manually in Windows, I can access the server, but there are no shares listed. I can access Samba shares on other machines.

Re-install the Guest Additions. Reboot your guest.

BTW, it's usually better and faster, if issues get first addressed in the VirtualBox forums, a lot more eyes there. More than 95% of the issues are resolved in the forums, which keeps the developers focusing on the bug fixes and enhancements, and there is no need for another ticket to keep track of. For example, yours is most probably not a bug and someone from the developers has to deal with it and close it as "Invalid".

Plus a discussion and analysis on the bug tracker is going to help me, you, and potentially a future drive-by user or two. Not so in the forums, many more tend to benefit...

I had done that before filling the report.

I have rebooted both host and guest. Re-installed VB 6.0.8 on the guest. Verified group membership. Re-installed Guest Additions.

I had done that before filling the report.

I had rebooted both host and guest. Re-installed VB 6.0.8 on the guest. Verified group membership. Re-installed the Guest Additions.

However, I just uninstalled the Guest Additions using Total Uninstall, and deleted some leftover files (I do not use the default install directory), re-booted etc, and re-installed the Guest Additions. The Shared Folder is back. You may close this case.
