To clarify the host screen stays at 11520x2160. using ctrl-f to go full screen so the client is also 11520x2160 causes the vm to become unresponsive. ctrl-f again to revert to window mode and then using the mouse to resize the window fixes the unresponsiveness.

VBoxSVGA (for Win guests) and VMSVGA (for Linux guests) are both brand new and they still have some issues to iron out. Stick with VBoxVGA for the moment.

I would revisit the issue around 6.1.x ;)

Other than that, try clean installing the guest additions, there appears to be issues with upgrading from a 5.x install.
