When the machine is running it is possible to do many changes to it, such as:
- Mount/unmount CD/DVD drive/image
- Mount/unmount floppy
- Add/remove shared folders
- Toggle remote display state
If would be nice to have these control capabilities available from the application's main window. The novice user gets the impression that in order to do such operations to the machine he must shut it down first, then change it, and turn it on again.
It happened to me while installing the guest OS, that I had to mount a CD image, and I couldn't figure out that it was possible while the machine was running. I turned it off, mount the image, then turn it back on. It was very frustrating, and I thought to myself VMware is much better...'.
Hmm, I cannot follow you. Didn't you find the application menu of the VM window? Did you have a look at the Devices... section?
