+There is one additional timing detail I noticed only later: At the very end of any VBOX.log file there are one or two messages regarding a request to close the Runtime UI. When the crash has occurred, at least one of those messages has been generated about 500 ms later than the other closing messages (this is a necessary but not sufficient condition).
