VBox should unmount Guest additions iso-file after install

We are using Linux host and Windows XP guest. When installing the guest additions and not explicitely unmounting them after the install, the iso-file remains registered and mounted.

When making later an update of vbox in a different installation dir, the old iso-file is missing and vbox refuses to start.

That's a strange request. How should we know when the right time is to unmount it? Instead VBox shouldn't refuse to start if the ISO can't be mounted.

Without understanding enough of your callback mechanisms from guest to host I cannot answer this question.

That would be even better because the problem not only happens with the additions-iso but also with other mounted volumes. In "real" windows it is always possible to remove a CD from the drive (with or without reboot) and windows continues to work.
