Description
Hello, Thank you for taking time to read my question.
I'd like to know how to assign a serial number to virtual USB drives or request it as a feature.
I love the new virtual USB feature, It's something I've been dreaming of for years.
In the attached screen shot you can see Vbox assign's a model and vendor name but leaves the serial number blank.
Thank you for your time!

The serial number of the virtual USB device is 0. This can be changed by modifying the code (see here). But why do you need a non-zero serial number?

Frank, take a look at the background discussion: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=78974

Thanks for the pointer but I still don't get why he needs to change the serial number, and why only the serial number and not the other parameters of the VirtualBox USB MSD?

I believe because the obsolete software (that required that USB device) was actually looking for that serial number (only?). This is as far as I can remember from a (heavily retracted) post that was made in the related discussion in the forums.
But the gist of the matter is that the OP wanted to change the serial# of a USB-controller-attached HD. There are no VBoxManage commands to do this. So, I suggested to attach the HD to a SATA or IDE controller. Still waiting for the results.
