VirtualBox 5.0.18 and later break drag and drop

Reported by: anotheruser123 Owned by:

Description

I've tested this with Mint 17.3 and CentOS 6. Mint partially succeeds; it puts the file in /tmp/VirtualBox Dropped Files. But it then errors out and the file does not appear in the desired folder.

In CentOS 6, on first attempt, it simply hangs on the dropping data window forever. After this, it doesn't even allow the drop to be attempted.

I noticed this behavior first in 5.0.18, but both tests and associated logs were done with 5.0.20.

I noticed the same issue in 3 Ubuntu VMs on two different machines, and found a forum entry on the same issue.

See the forum post with DnD logs here: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=77572

Same issue here.

Does this still occur for you using VBox 5.0.22? Please note that the Guest Additions also need to be updated to 5.0.22 (plus a reboot from the guest is required after upgrading).
