windows 10 guest freezes on OSX 10.11 host

Reported by: FoxInCloud2 Owned by:
Component: VM control Version: VirtualBox 5.0.16
Keywords: Windows 10 freezes Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Mac OS X

Description

This issue was raised in forum: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=77176

I've experienced this issue for several months

Freeze can occur at any time, at startup or after several hours functioning OK.

Interaction with the VM by any mean (keyboard, mouse, etc.) is no longer possible; even sending the shutdown signal does not help, only powering off the machine.

Attached is the log file in a day when Windows 10-64 freezed twice.

Thanks

After setting both "Enable 3D acceleration" and "Enable 2D video acceleration" to on, I no longer experience freezes. I've only been running like this for a couple of days, but so far so good. The downside is that certain operations are notably slower, for example scrolling up or down a big file in Visual Studio.

Replying to Rune B:

Thanks Rune, I'll give your tip a try and will feedback here.
