Faild to install the extension pack 5.0.14-105127

Reported by: Аналитик Owned by:
Component: installer Version: VirtualBox 5.0.14
Keywords: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED Cc:
Guest type: other Host type: Windows

Description

Failed to install the Extension Pack E:/Temp/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.14-105127.vbox-extpack.

The installer failed with exit code 1: VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe: error: Failed to rename the temporary directory to the final one: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED ('C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox/ExtensionPacks/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-_-inst-1084' -> 'C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox/ExtensionPacks/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack')

rcExit=1.

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: ExtPackManagerWrap Interface: IExtPackManager {edba9d10-45d8-b440-1712-46ac0c9bc4c5}

Please remove the mentioned directory (...-inst-6696) manually. The reason for the existence of such a directory is often that a previous attempt to install the ExtPack failed, most likely because a VM was still running. As of VBox 5.0.12, an additional check detects if at least one VM is running and refuses to upgrade the ExtPack in that case.

It doesn't help.

Disabled security anti-virus firewall. Shutdown All VMs and VirtualBox Manager. Open CMD prompt as Administrator. CD to Oracle\VirtualBox directory. Run: "vboxmanage extpack cleanup". Run: Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.2-102096.vbox-extpack (or whatever ver you're using)

It doesn't help. As well as running

as Administrator, reboot, еtс.

Windows 10 64-bit. The problem arose after upgrading VirtualBox-5.0.10-104061-Win to VirtualBox-5.0.14-105127-Win. But when I uninstall 5.0.14 and try to install 5.0.10, I've got the same problem.

I want to be sure: Are you trying to install the Extension Pack while a VM is running on the same host (any user)?

Unfortunately, I didn't understand the essence of the issue. Computer is only one, install VirtualBox on it, then either run e:\Temp\Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.14-105127.vbox-extpack file or run "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.exe" menu Files - Preferences - Extensions - Select an extension package file - e:\Temp\Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.14-105127.vbox-extpack, reply to request of UAC, get error "Failed to rename the temporary directory to the final one" regardless of the presence or absence of the directory "c:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\ExtensionPacks\"

P.S. Sorry, the problem disappeared after I disable the antivirus. Who would have thought that the reason for this!
