#14477 closed defect (duplicate)

Booting existing Windows 7 partition in 5.0.2 no longer works

Description

I have a dual boot system. My primary partition is Windows 7 and I also have Ubuntu 15.04 installed. Using previous builds of VirtualBox (4.3.x) I was able to boot my physical Windows 7 partition in VirtualBox on Ubuntu. I created the disk using the command "VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename test.vmdk -rawdisk /dev/sda" and attached it to the VM. This setup works very well for me in that I can run Windows in Ubuntu when needed (instead of having to reboot) as well as booting to Windows (natively) if necessary.

This system no longer finishes booting on 5.0.2. I get to the loading Windows splash screen but it hangs there. I confirmed that if I revert back to 4.3.30, it works. I can provide any information needed to troubleshoot this. Please let me know what is needed so this functionality is available on 5.0.2 and future builds going forward.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the latest test builds include the fix.
