A fix is in the works. This application installs a device driver that does some very nasty things.

I've added a workaround for this case. Note that I would never run such an application on a real machine. There's no need for something as simple as a IM application to pull such dirty tricks.

i am victim of this bug to so i was happy to read that it is fixed. I build from latest trunk revision 1788 and started my vm with xp pro, started QQ and got a crash. When running revision 1788 do i already benefit from this fix? Something else i need to do?

The fix is not yet in the public SVN tree. Later today hopefully.

The public SVN tree is now up-to-date.

Thank you, but I still have to reopen the bug. Using revision 1930 situation improved, I get the login screen :) But entering my id and password and trying to login makes the vm crash again with the following message:

Informational: VirtualBox object created (rc=00000000).

!!Assertion Failed!! Expression: (null) Location : /opt/vbox/src/recompiler/new/VBoxRecompiler.c(4778) cpu_abort fatal error in recompiler cpu: Trying to execute code with memory type addr_code=f78e6020 addend=00fdb000 at f78e6108. (iHandlerMemType=0x70 iMMIOMemType=0x60)

Please explain a little bit the meaning of the above message. Thanks

If you have a cpu with hardware virtualization capabilities, then you should turn it on and retry (see manual). I'm not sure if I'm going to spend more time to get this working. It's not so trivial to fix.
