#13569 closed defect (worksforme)

No proper screen resolution

Reported by: bosje Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 4.3.18

Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description

Host: Windows 8.1, 64 bit VirtualBox-4.3.18-96516-Win Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.3.18-96516 Resolution: 3200 * 1800

Guest: Windows 2008 R2 Standard, service pack 1 VirtualBox Guest additions 4.3.18

Problem: Using Host-F the screen goes to full screen. This to high because the icons etc are too small. Changing the resolution make the screen smaller instead of the resolution. If you use Host-C (not full screen) you can change resolution and it will have effect. There are only not the appropriate resolution to use from. This are the one you can use from: 3200*1200 2560*1024 1920*1440 1600*1200 1400*1050

So the problem is that I want to have a full screen with the a proper resolution.

To add a new resolution, for example 1600x900, start Administrator command prompt in the guest and execute:

vboxcontrol addcustommode 1600 900 32

Then reboot the guest. After reboot the 1600x900 resolution will be available in the guest.

Thanks!

I have executed vboxcontrol addcustommode 1920 1080 32 Which is a proper solution to work with in a Scale mode. This resolution is also visible in a full screen but when you choose this it will only descrease the screen.

Replying to sunlover:

Thanks for the solution to work with a proper resolution in scale mode! Is there a way I can work with the same resolution in full screen?
