It would be more user friendly if instead vendor name like ""Garmin"" is displayed and if possible real device name like ""nüvi 3490 LMT"". [[BR]] '''Detailed info:''' 1. Using Ubuntu 14.04 with the latest updates as virtual host. 2. Downloaded VirtualBox 4.3.16 from virtualbox.org web site and installed it. 3. Downloaded Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension pack and installed it. 4. Installed Windows 7 as virtual guest. 5. Updated Windows to latest fixes. 6. In guest installed Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Additions. 7. Just to make sure everything is started properly I have power off PC. 8. I power-on PC, so Ubuntu host started. 9. I plugged my ""Garmin nüvi 3490 LMT"" GPS device to my PC using USB cable. 10. On Ubuntu host I executed command: lsusb to list all USB devices attached to computer. One of the output line is: ""Bus 001 Device 007: ID 091e:2560 Garmin International"" 11. Power on Windows virtual guest. 12. When Windows is on I got info that new device was found and installed drivers. 13. To make sure everything started properly I have restarted Windows. 14. Windows logged in and fully up (no activity in Task Manager). Pressed Host_key+F to get out of full screen. 15. At the right bottom in VirtualBox GUI status bar there are icons for devices. One of them is USB icon. Right click on that icon and USB devices are displayed. Now problem appears. One of the device listed is: ""Unknown device 091E:2560 [0509]"". So comparing the output of lsusb (step 10) to unknown device (step 15) I know this is Garmin device. The problem in this problem report is that there is ""Unknown device"" instead of having some descriptive name like vendor name Garmin or even additional product info: nüvi 3490 LMT. But even if there is only vendor name displayed, this info is known from 'lsusb', it would be much much better then ""unknown device""." defect closed USB VirtualBox 4.3.16 obsolete unknown device Windows Linux
