VBoxNetFlt Driver causes Win 8.1 host to reboot on sleep wake-up

Description

Hi

I can't find a similar bug logged, so I thought this needed to be brought to your attention.

I am using a brand new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro ultrabook, with Windows 8.1 (build 9600). I installed VirtualBox 4.3.16 r95972. Since installation of VirtualBox, and without starting VirtualBox and/or a VM, my notebook will not "wake-up" out of ACPI sleep mode without rebooting the OS.

Using Microsoft's AutoRuns utility, I was able to disable the VBoxNetFit driver from loading on startup. This fixed the wake-up issue, but introduced a new problem in that there seems to be no access to my laptop's internet gateway, despite there still being a connection to WiFi.

I tried enabling/disabling various combinations of the 4 VirtualBox drivers (VBoxDrv, VBoxNetAdp, VBoxNetFit and VBoxUSBMon) on Windows startup, to no avail.

I rely on my VM daily for work, but also require that the sleep functionality be seamless, to save on battery. Is there anything I can do to solve the issue?

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards, Donovan

My apologies, upon further investigation, it does appear that this is a known issue which has been logged as a ticket before.

The issue specifically seems to be with the support for bridged networking. I uninstalled VirtualBox and then did a reinstall without Bridged Networking (as advised by the first link), and all seems happy.

I will now attempt a linux installation and see what happens.
