shutdown of vm powers down host

Description

I am running a 32 bit ubuntu vm instance of ubuntu in virtualbox on a 64 bit ubuntu host. When I shutdown the vm instance it causes the host machine to power off abruptly.

It may just be something going wrong which causes the host to crash when I bring up the shutdown dialog. It seems like the last time, I didn't even have time to hit "submit".

Any relevant information in the host kernel log file?

Status: newclosed

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
