Virtual Box nvinitx.dll 0xC0000190 STATUS_TRUST_FAILURE

Reported by: RoelV Owned by:
Component: network Version: VirtualBox 4.3.14
Keywords: nvinitx.dll Cc:
Guest type: other Host type: Windows

Description

VirtualBox.exe - Bad Image

C:\Windows\system32\nvinitx.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000190.

OK

This dialog box is shown when starting Virtual Box 4.3.14.r95030 the first time (and subsequently on each start) *after* it is started for the first time automatically by the installation process.

This is on a fairly new/clean copy/install of Windows 8 (not 8.1) Pro.

Please also see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-au/library/cc704588.aspx 0xC0000190 STATUS_TRUST_FAILURE The network logon failed. This may be because the validation authority cannot be reached.

No home sharing group is active on this machine, no windows active/appstore account logged in, and "home" setting for network connection, if any of these matter. All other network functionality works fine in Windows. Have not tested vbox itself yet if any functionality is missing/not working.

Same still happens after 8.1 upgrade. Bit suprised it's been 3 weeks and this had no attention - this is an issue others are seeing also...

This may be caused by using 32bit DLL on x64 system - see; http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/es-ES/80293852-59b3-45b8-ad61-d6347185cc48/how-to-fix-nvinitxdll-error-under-win8?forum=windowsdeveloperpreviewgeneral
