Description

This topic was discussed here where it was suggested I open a bug:

https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=60066

Basically whenever I click on a directory selection button, Windows 8.1 will close down the vbox manager stating it has crashed.

The only error in the vbox log file is:

00:08:52.795868 Watcher ERROR [COM]: aRC=E_ACCESSDENIED (0x80070005) aIID={fafa4e17-1ee2-4905-a10e-fe7c18bf5554} aComponent={VirtualBox} aText={The object is not ready}, preserve=false

Attached is the complete log file.

I can't insist but it looks like issue with VB access rights.I have read your topic on the forum. At present, are you able to run VB GUI or not?

Replying to VVP:

I can't insist but it looks like issue with access rights of user which runs VB. I have read your topic on the forum. At present, are you able to run VB GUI or not?

I did not know Visual Basic came with Windows 8. How do I run it?

Yes, the vbox manager (gui) launches without issue. The problems only happen when I click on the directory button.
