Upgrade Guest to Windows 8.1 and Network Fails

Reported by: MuttDiggityDawg Owned by:
Component: network Version: VirtualBox 4.3.2
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Linux

Description

With VB version 4.3.2 running on Ubuntu 13.10, when I upgraded a guest install of Windows 8.1 the network failed. The adapter appears to be working but it's not a functional internet connection. I tested it using both NAT and Bridged host network settings.

I've never had a problem with VirtualBox before so please let me know what I need to do to help get an answer.

Thank you for your time!

The first step is to attach a VBox.log file of that session to this ticket.

And perhaps create two different defects for NAT and bridged, because more likely they're different issues.

Hi frank and Hachiman,

Thanks for the info. I attached the log file. Let's stick to NAT networking on this ticket.

Thanks again!

Could you please try with 4.3.4 and upload VBox.log for the session + pcap file from your virtual adapter, Please describe how you detect network outage? in addition what output of commands ifconfig and nslookup www.google.com (with pcap switched on).
