EMS TopGun 2 Doesn't work

Description
I have an EMS TopGun 2.
When I try to use it on a Windows XP Home (32 bits) guest, it's detected by the system (so, the drivers install correctly, and it's shown under devmgmt.msc), but it doesn't work.
Specifically, the TopGun application used for configuring it, doesn't detect it - it's supposed to show in the list of detected guns, but it doesn't.
My host is a Ubuntu 13.10/64. The same configuration, with VMWare Player, works fine.
