Virtual mashine freezes after entering "shared folders" menu

Reported by: Liarra Owned by:
Component: shared folders Version: VirtualBox 4.2.16
Keywords: freeze, manjaro, win8, setup Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

Machine:
Lenovo Yoga 13
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3337U CPU @ 1.80GHz
Memory 4,00 GB
Graphics Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Host system:
Windows 8

Guest system:
Manjaro Linux
Kernel: 3.4.60-1-MANJARO
[Manjaro is basically Arch Linux made a bit more beautiful http://manjaro.org/]
Disk size: 8GB
Memory: 256 MB
"Arch Linux" option was selected during the creation of VM.

Steps taken:
1) Start the VM
2) Menu Devices->Common folders
3) Change nothing, hit OK

Effect:
1)The VM freezes. It is not possible to stop it or even close the window. After killing VM process, VirtualBox Manager and VirtualBox interface through Task manager, it is not possible to run the application again until host system restart.

2) After the restart it is possible to run the application, but not possible to enable the VM: it starts and gets frozen. The progress bar "Starting Virtual machine..." is stuck on 0%. Trying to restart the app leads to the effect described in 1).

3) It is possible to start the app, then run the setup of VM (not starting it) and specify some folder in "Host system folder" section of "Shared folders" page. VM starts normally then.
