#12027 closed defect (worksforme)

VM suddenly became unaccessible. "File not found" yet it's right there

Description

I have a VM I've used for ages. Now it's been a while since the last time. I've meanwhile upgraded the host from Ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 (just upgraded, not reinstalled).

The VM and its virtual disks are where they've always been: on a NTFS partition. Nothing has moved or changed.

Now when I run VB, my VM is listed as "inaccessible". On the right panel, it says:

Runtime error opening '/media/NTFS_50GB/VirtualBox VMs/Windows 7 64bit ITA/Windows 7 64bit ITA.vbox' for reading: -102 (File not found.).
/home/vbox/vbox-4.1.18/src/VBox/Main/src-server/MachineImpl.cpp[708] (nsresult Machine::registeredInit()).
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:
VirtualBox
Interface:
IVirtualBox {c28be65f-1a8f-43b4-81f1-eb60cb516e66}

THE FILE IS RIGHT THERE and it IS accessible.

Host: Ubuntu 13.04 (formerly 12.10 last time it worked) Guest: Window 7 (should be totally irrelevant)

Please besides fixing this I urgently need a workaround to get my VM working.

Ok, it's because the Ubuntu upgrade has changed the path where the partition gets mounted. Without warning.

Going to report the bug to Ubuntu, not a VB issue.
