To reproduce:
- Start Ubuntu with Unity and 3D acceleration
- enter VirtualBox fullscreen mode
- start glxgears or most other OpenGL windows

Results:
Screen will flicker black at launch.  Will also flicker black whenever the window is moved.  Window contents display some of the time but not always, otherwise window is black.
