VBoxManage controlvm setvideomodehint segmentation fault on OSX

Reported by: claudio_ch Owned by:
Component: VM control Version: VirtualBox 4.2.10

Guest type: Linux Host type: Mac OS X

Description

See below my virtual machines and the command which causes the segmentation fault.

$ VBoxManage list vms "P" {9a7a8d27-7c83-4eb8-8f4e-f1245175ffa5} "WWW" {0dc01bf9-ad53-44c3-ad51-c85a9e267968}

$ VBoxManage controlvm 0dc01bf9-ad53-44c3-ad51-c85a9e267968 setvideomodehint 1920 1200 32 Segmentation fault: 11 (core dumped)

The error happens also if I use the VM name WWW instead of the uuid.

I have a core file which is 227MByte in size that I can supply if you give me instructions on how to transfer it to you.

The host operating system is OSX 10.8.3:

$ uname -a Darwin mbpr-claudio.lan 12.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 12.3.0: Sun Jan 6 22:37:10 PST 2013; root:xnu-2050.22.13~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64

The guest OS is 64 bit Arch Linux with Guest Additions 4.2.10 installed from Arch packages.

There is no problem running the VM, except that in full screen mode it sets the display to 1600x1200 pixel, that is the reason I wanted to try the setvideomodehint and so stumbled over the segmentation fault.
