Remote Desktop to Windows 8 Results in Black Screen

Description
I am currently running Virtualbox on Arch Linux Host. I have downloaded and installed the Virtualbox extension pack, configured the external display to enable a server with port 3389, and use null authentication. I then configured the Windows 8 guest to accept remote connections using network level authentication. When I connect to the windows guest session, I get only a black screen.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.

I have this exact same problem - I can not connect to a Windows 8 guest with RDP, I only get a black screen. I have tried from ubuntu 13.04 and another Windows 8 guest, but I just get the black screen after login in every case.
