mouse pointer & hourglass corruption for Windows guest under Debian Wheezy

Description
After the 4.2 guest additions were installed the mouse pointer and hourglass were corrupted (bright white with black shadow and lacking any detail - looks like low resolution black & white).

It is started and accessed via:
VBoxManage startvm xp32 --type headless VBoxManage controlvm xp32 setvideomodehint 1920 1156 24 rdesktop -D -g 1920x1156 localhost:3389 & wmctrl -r rdesktop -e '0,0,0,1920,1156'
This has worked flawlessly for 4.1.8.
