Low network performance with virtio drivers

Description
Hello support.
I have two vbox 4.1.24 hosts with windows host OS (win2008r2 and win 2003r2). When trying to use virtio network drivers on guests the net performance significally degrades compared to results with intel 1000 drivers. Tested guests OSes: ubuntu 12.4, centos 6.3, win2008r2 on w2008r2 host and winXP and win 2008r2 on w2003r2 host.
Also tried vbox 4.2.6 with win7x32 host and win2008r2 guest. Same performance degrade for virtio.
For win guests tried virtio-net 61.64.104.4900 (virtio-win-0.1-49.iso)
All hosts are intel-vt capable.
