VM running as system account - Virtualbox CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE

Description

Hello,

I'm running VirtualBox 4.2.6 on a Windows 7 host and launch VMs through group policy init scripts (computer configuration -> windows settings -> scripts). This allows me to start the VM whenever the host comes up. Therefore the associated processes are running with the system account.

Everything works well with only one glitch. I cannot start VirtualBox frontend as long as any VM is up. The message I get reads: "The COM object for VirtualBox could not be created. Application will stop now. Callee RC:CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE (0x80080005)". The same behaviour can be observed if I use command line tools. E.g. "vboxmanage.exe list"

As soon as I stop all running VMs (from "inside" itself) the GUI can be launched and command line tools work as designed.

I cannot tell if this really is a bug but at least the tools should be able to start and the user should be able to work on non running VMs. At the moment one has to stop all (this way) running VMs before tools can be used. Maybe someone can enlighten me what is going on here.

Markus
