VirtualBox won't run after install (VBoxSVC hangs)

Hello,
I am running Windows 7 64bit on my Desktop. It has 4GB of ram and the processor is a AMD quadcore 2.51GHz. I installed Virtual Box, but when I try to run it for the first time (haven't even been able to get to the guest set-up wizard), nothing happens.
When I click on Start->All Programs-> Oracle VM Virtualbox -> Oracle VM Virtualbox, the 2 processes start (VirtualBox.exe and VBoxSVC.exe). Nothing happens after this point, except that VBoxSVC.exe uses 25% of the CPU constantly (almost like it's hung??).
I've tried a re-install - no help. I've tried an un-install, then reboot, then re-install - no help.
Any ideas?

I have tried some older versions with "some" success. I am currently using version 3.2.14. When I start it up after a fresh boot, it hangs. I open the task manager, and end the VBoxSVC process, and restart VB. This time it runs. It works each time - so far so good. I've been able to install WinXPPro successfully. I think this version is missing some features on disk management (which I miss), but I am functioning.
