OS/2 guest: Virtualbox boot screen artefacts when guest boots, guest won't shut down via APM

Description
I reverted back to VirtualBox 4.1.22 where neither of the following issues showed up:
1) after the VirtualBox initíal screen shows, part of the screen content will continue to display (dimmed) when the guest starts up
2) I cannot shutdown the OS/2 guest (which is done via APM). The OS/2 guest will hang on the attempt but VirtualBox itself can be closed down properly.
