Impossible to use USB sound card
Reported by: | mdurnev | Owned by: | |

Component: | USB | Version: | VirtualBox 4.2.4 |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Windows |
Description
Host OS: Windows 7 64-bit Guest OS: Linux 3.4.x, 3.5.x USB device: e.g. Creative Labs X-Fi
Right after connecting a USB audio card the VM stops responding. It can't be stopped using "close" button. The VM window can be closed from the Windows task manager, but VirtualBox Manager remains open and unresponsive. Need to restart the host to get back to work with VirtualBox.
The issue can be reproduced with VirtualBox 4.1.8 and 4.2.
The same USB sound card works if host OS is Linux (verified with Ubuntu 12.04 32/64-bits).

Guest hang when I plug USB Sound Blaster SB1240
When I select in the guest the USB sound card (screeshot1) the operating system detects the new hardware, and after few seconds shows that the new hardware is ready to use (screeshot2) but it freezes everything, even VirtualBox Manager. Note. To see screeshot open the attachment Win7-HOST_HAM-2012-12-30-18-29-55.zip
