Compacting a writethrough or multiattach disk makes the virtual machines inaccessible

Description
- Edit and then zerofree a writethrough or multiattach disk
- Do not detach from machines
- VBoxManage modifyhd --compact
- Open VirtualBox. The machines have become inaccessible. showhdinfo reports that the disk is now in normal mode.
Whenever you do hdinfo or modifyhd --type, and open VirtualBox within 5 seconds, the machines will be accessible. If you do hdinfo or modifyhd --type, and open VirtualBox after 5 seconds, the machines will be inaccessible.
