Ubuntu 32 Guest crash on Gentoo 64 with VERR_
Reported by: | tudor | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Component: | other | Version: | VirtualBox 4.1.22 |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Linux |
Description
Steps to reproduce: 1) Install Virtualbox on Ubuntu 64 12.10 (Virtualbox 4.1.18) 2) Install Ubuntu 32 as a Guest using 12.10 ISO. 3) Export appliance 4) Import appliance onto Gentoo 64-bit (Virtualbox 4.1.22_Gentoo_r80657) 5) Start appliance headless (haven't tested with GUI) 6) Connect using VRDE. GRUB screen sits and waits. Selecting Ubuntu works for a few seconds then changes state from RUNNING to GURU_MEDITATION.
Running VBoxHeadless directly results in: Guru Meditation -2301 (VERR_REM_VIRTUAL_CPU_ERROR)
I believe I have disabled hardware virtualisation and VT-x with no change in the result.

You have to enable PAE support for your VM. VirtualBox should not crash as a result of this bug but that problem is reported elsewhere.
