Traceroute does not work from linux guest on Windows 8 host

Description
I am unable to receive the TTL expired ICMP packets on a linux based guest OS running under windows.
By looking at the network traffic going through the windows 8 guest I see the ICMP packets arriving, but they do not get NATed to the guest OS.
The network device on the guest is configured to NAT.
