Description

Hi, I just bought an HTC TYTN pda phone and I'm trying to use activesync. I have an Ubuntu host with Windows XP as guest. I managed to install activesync and the device is detected when I connect it with the USB cable but the drivers are not properly installed and I can't connect to it.

I've removed from host console the support for USB 2.0 EHCI Controller, and than under virtual machine running windows xp the installation of driver was good, but remain the problem of connectivity because the new network LAN ( of windows mobile connectivity ) was not able to negotiate the IP address with DHCP.

Hello,

I have the same problem over here. Please Help ! This would be so nice to have Windows Mobile synced with Active Sync on Windows XP Guest. My host is Ubuntu 8.10. When I connect the Windows Mobile, Windows XP detect it but give me an error on Active Sync.

ActiveSync works for me in 'advanced networking functionality' mode if you blacklist the rndis modules, eg by creating the file with "sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rndis.conf" and adding this:

blacklist rndis_wlan blacklist rndis_host blacklist cdc_ether

The problem must be that the Linux rndis modules block the Windows rndis modules from working.

(This is with Ubuntu 9.04 and VBox 3.02.)

Those blacklist lines in the comment above should be three separate lines, not all on one line.

Hi I've done what you explained but it doesn't work for me. I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, Virtualbox 3.2.8, I have Windows XP SP3 as guest and my WinMo device is a Dell Axim X51v with Windows Mobile 6.1. Please can anybody help me to sync my PDA on this XP guest? Thank you in advance.

@michi6278: have you done all these steps?

  1. Blacklist those modules via the file shown in comment#6 (noting that there should be 3 separate lines starting with blacklist, not just one line)
  1. Reboot (to ensure the modules aren't loaded).
  1. Run your VM and check that it is active-sync'ing in 'advanced network mode'.
  1. Forward the USB port to the VM.

If it still doesn't work, check the modules are blacklisted correctly: the command "lsmod |grep rndis" should show nothing. If it shows something, the Linux RNDIS modules are loaded and are stopping the guest RNDIS drivers from accessing the device, meaning the Linux drivers aren't blacklisted properly.
