#10643 closed defect (obsolete)

HOST key (Mac OS X right-CMD) still triggers (the Windows menu) on the guest system (Windows XP)

Reported by: Stefan Nowak Owned by:
Component: GUI/seamless Version: VirtualBox 4.1.16

Guest type: Windows Host type: Mac OS X

Description

This is my general preference:

Preferences > Input > Host-Key : RightCMD

In all 4 variations I tried, the app switching command on the host system Mac OS X (CMD-Tab) worked, but the CMD key seems to be not properly captured, as the Windows Menu still got triggered as an unwanted side effect.

Possible a problem of left/right CMD key redundancy? Probably related: #6289

Variations

Preferences > Input > Auto-capture keyboard OFF

  1. Focus on Windows Notepad
  2. LeftCMD-Tab to Finder
  3. Windows menu gets triggered
  1. Focus on Windows Notepad
  2. RightCMD (=HOST-key)
  3. LeftCMD-Tab to Finder
  4. Windows menu gets triggered

Preferences > Input > Auto-capture keyboard ON

  1. Focus on Windows Notepad
  2. LeftCMD-Tab to Finder. Does not bring up the Mac App Switcher, but removes focus from Windows Notepad to something else from Windows (not clear to me what).
  1. Focus on Windows Notepad
  2. RightCMD (=HOST-key)
  3. LeftCMD-Tab to Finder
  4. Windows menu gets triggered.
