Windows 7 and Windows XP fail on OS X 10.7 Host

Description

I try to install Windows 7 respectively Windows XP on my Mac OS X Lion.

After a few seconds of initialising the installation, I get an Guru Meditation error.

It works with VT-x/AMD-V turned off.

VMX setup failed with rc=VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE!

Has something else taken over the hardware-v? Only one application at a time can use VMX.

Maybe it relates to the new android x86 emulator, but it is neither started nor do I find a loaded module using kextstat.

At least one other user I know had to actually remove the andriod x86 emulator to be able to release the hold on VMX. I would look close at that as a possible cause.

Status: newclosed

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
