USB connection error (Failed to create a proxy device)

Reported by: sx270169 Owned by:
Priority: major Component: USB
Version: VirtualBox 4.1.8 Keywords:
Cc: Guest type: Windows
Host type: Linux

Description

I have a cheap USB Stick which cannot be connected to the Virtual Machine (I checked this problem on Host system Ubuntu 11.04 (amd64) and 11.10 (i386) ). All other USB sticks work fine. Problem sounds like existing bugs (i.e. #10131) but these bugs are in combination with Windows Host system. But I have a Linux host systems, which works concerning USB support normally much more stable than Windows host systems.

The USB-stick itself works fine on Windows and Linux Machines. If it helps, I can send you the USB stick for further tests. I have made some read out, take a look into the attached text file.

This is the message, shown in the Virtual Machine when I am trying to connect the stick.

Das USB-Gerät usd disk [0100] konnte nicht an die virtuelle Maschine vm-WinXP-technik gebunden werden.

Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_READ_ERROR).

Fehlercode:NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Komponente:Console Interface:IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}
