VERR_SUPLIB_OWNER_NOT_ROOT when resuming Guest OS from saved state — at Version 1

Reported by: Boreeas Owned by:

Guest type: Windows Host type: Linux

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

The Guest OS is Windows7 32bit, running on 1 GB RAM and having a virtual HDD of 20 GB. The host is Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) 64bit, running on 3 GB RAM with a 50 GB HDD. I saved the state of the Guest OS yesterday. When I resumed it today, I got the following error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Win7 x86-32.

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUPLIB_OWNER_NOT_ROOT).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

The only modifications that happened to the host in that time was an update of flash. If I checked it correctly, everything is still owned by root.
