Dear Virtualbox Developers,

Are there plans to support performance counter virtualization (aka PMU
virtualization) in VirtualBox ?

This already supported by VMWare for some time now. See
https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2030221
for instance.

This has been discussed in the past with some tentative discussions (
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59168 ) but no definitive
view on whether Virtualbox is interested in this / already working on this
/ has decided not to support this...

Allowing PMU virtualization allows some really powerful software (e.g.
http://rr-project.org . Also see https://github.com/mozilla/rr) to be run
in the VM.

Thanks,

Sidharth
